Exterior House PaintingChoosing paint colors for the interior of your home may seem like a daunting task, until you have to choose a color for the exterior of your home. Typically, people don’t paint the exterior of their homes except every 10 years or so, depending on the quality of paint used. Three Brothers Painting uses Sherwin Williams high quality exterior paint that lasts from ten to fifteen years, depending on weather conditions. Keeping this in mind, you want to choose a paint color that will look good and that you’ll love for that length of time.

Homeowner Associations

Before you go and choose a color of the rainbow, check with your homeowners association. Many neighborhoods already have a set color scheme that they allow homeowners to choose from to keep their neighborhood looking attractive and cohesive.

Cues from Nature

If you are unrestricted on your color selection, look to nature to inspire you. Is your home near the lake? Do you have a wide, expansive view of the sky and surrounding landscape? Do you already have a professionally designed landscape complete with bright, vibrant flowers and plants? Take all of this into consideration when you choose your color. Go with a shade of blue to bring in the cool, relaxing feel of living on the lake. If you’ve got a beautiful view of the sky, you can also choose a blue or grey color to make your house blend into the landscape. Your yard and the trees and plants you have around your home will have a large influence on the paint colors that look good on your home’s exterior. Typically, if your landscape is vibrant, the house should be a more subdued, natural color, or visa versa.
