Creating Outdoor Rooms

Aug 1, 2014

PorchWe’ll be saying goodbye to summer here in Georgia in just a few short weeks which means that for most of you your favorite season will be upon us: Fall. The crisp evening temperatures as the leaves start to change colors make for perfect porch sitting weather while you are wrapped up in a cozy blanket. To help turn your porch into more of an outdoor room rather than just a place to collect muddy boots and wet jackets, our team of painting professionals has three easy recommendations.

1. Repair Any Wood Rot

First things first, your porch needs to be in good repair before you try to sit down and enjoy it. No one wants to be sitting on their couch staring at rotting wood or ripped screens. Make a note of anywhere that you see wood in ill repair. If you don’t want to make the repair yourself, that’s something that Three Brothers can take care of for you.

2. Give it a Good Cleaning

Summers can be hard on both your open decks or porches and your screened in porches. The high humidity can lead to all kinds of mildew and with dogs and kids tracking in and out all summer long the floors have surely gotten dirty. Pressure wash everything from floors to walls to ceilings to rails to pickets. This is also a great opportunity to get rid of any peeling paint.

3. Give it a Fresh Coat of Paint

To truly turn your outdoor space into an outdoor room, don’t neglect it when it comes to painting. A fresh coat of paint in a bright color will make the space more enjoyable for you and your family this fall. Stick with your favorite color trends that you have going in your home to extend the same feeling of comfort that you have inside into the outdoors.
